Steve’s Meat Market in De Soto, Kansas is one of less than ten United States Department of Agriculture inspected processing facilities in the U.S. that is permitted by a religious exemption to process beef, goat, and lamb, conforming to Halal standards.
Steve’s Meat Market processes Halal meat with strict adherence to Islamic law and has developed a strong following of Muslim customers who drive from the Kansas City metropolitan area, Saint Joseph Missouri, Topeka and even Manhattan Kansas for their Halal meat needs.
We have a very diverse Muslim customer base of people whose countries of origin range from Nigeria, India, Pakistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia to Somalia and many other countries.
Our Halal processing days are Thursday and Saturday early mornings, year round. We have been processing Halal meats for our Muslim customers since 1985.
While we do offer a selection of frozen Halal meats, many of our Muslin customers prefer to choose the cow, lamb, or goat they would like to purchase, in the open air market behind our facility. Once our customers make their selection, they have the option to sacrifice the animal themselves or to have another Muslim on site sacrifice the animal Halal. Many of our customers prefer we cut the meat into small pieces and mix all of the meat together for stew meat, but we are happy to accommodate your personal needs.
